Question 1

Do you offer construction services in addition to abatement?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide general contracting and construction services, including restoration work after lead abatement or mold remediation.

Question 2

Can you help repair areas damaged during remediation work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our construction team focuses on quality craftsmanship to restore affected spaces and complete related repairs as part of a seamless solution.

Question 3

What kinds of projects are included in your restoration work?

Accepted Answer

Our restoration work can include rebuilding areas impacted by environmental hazards as well as upgrades and improvements tied to the project scope.

Question 4

How much does drywall repair cost after remediation?

Accepted Answer

Small patch repairs average around $612, typically ranging $150–$2,000. Larger sections of drywall replacement run about $1.50–$5 per square foot installed, plus $1.50–$3.50 per square foot for taping, mudding, and finishing. Total cost depends heavily on how much material had to be removed during the remediation itself.

Question 5

What does post-remediation restoration typically include?

Accepted Answer

Drywall repair or replacement, taping/mudding/painting, door and trim replacement, and flooring work as needed — essentially rebuilding whatever had to come out to safely access and eliminate the hazard during remediation.

Question 6

Why do I need separate construction or repair work after mold or lead remediation?

Accepted Answer

Remediation focuses on safely removing the hazard itself — contaminated drywall, lead-based paint, moisture-damaged material — not on making the room livable again. Anything that had to be cut out or stripped down during that process needs to be rebuilt: drywall, trim, doors, flooring, and paint.

Question 7

Will my homeowners insurance cover the restoration and repair costs?

Accepted Answer

It depends on what caused the original problem. If the mold or damage stemmed from a covered event — a burst pipe, for example — the resulting rebuild is typically covered as part of the same claim. If the underlying cause wasn't covered (long-term humidity, neglect, or a legally required lead certification unrelated to a specific incident), the restoration work is usually out-of-pocket. Check with your insurer before starting.

Question 8

Can the same company handle both the remediation and the repair work afterward?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it's usually the better option — a single company handling both phases means no handoff gaps between a remediation crew and a separate general contractor, and the rebuild uses the same measurements and access points from the removal phase instead of starting from scratch.

Question 9

Is East Coast Environmental registered as a home improvement contractor in NJ and PA?

Accepted Answer

Yes for Pennsylvania, PA Home Improvement Contractor Registration #PA027923. New Jersey also requires HIC registration for paid home improvement work; that number is still being confirmed. Both states legally require the registration number to appear on contracts, estimates, and advertising.

Question 10

Do I need permits for post-remediation construction work?

Accepted Answer

Simple patch repairs usually don't require a permit, but larger structural drywall work, electrical, or plumbing involved in the rebuild often does. Requirements vary by township even within South Jersey and the Philadelphia suburbs, so it's worth confirming with the local building department before work starts.

Question 11

How long does the restoration phase take after remediation?

Accepted Answer

A single room's drywall and paint work can take 2–4 days. Larger, multi-room rebuilds can run 1–3 weeks, factoring in paint drying/curing time and any required inspections.

Question 12

Will the repaired area match the rest of my home?

Accepted Answer

It should, but texture and paint matching can be tricky, especially in older homes where the surrounding paint has aged or faded. A reputable contractor tests the patch and blend before final finishing, and on visible walls may recommend repainting the full wall or room rather than just the patched section for a seamless result.
